The large, sprawling Kerman is a cultural melting pot that blends the Persians with Baluchis on the more continental continent that dominates the eastern regions. This blend is most noticeable in the long, old covered market, which is the city’s fascinating main emphasis. Otherwise, the area’s main attractions – especially Mahan, Rayen and Kaluts – are outside the city. All three can be seen on a long day trip from Kerman, but each has its own accommodation if you prefer to escape the bustle of the city.
